Minecraft 1.11.2    Requirements: Forge

Mowzie’s mobs adds four new enemies to Minecraft to make your game significantly more difficult. If you happen to be exploring a jungle, you may come across Foliaaths. They are vicious plant creatures that will attack if you get too close. And they do quite a bit of damage so be very cautious when approaching. Use arrows to fight back if you choose to do so.

You may come across a dungeon-like structure underground. If you make your way in, be prepared for a tough fight ahead. The structure is guarded by the Ferrous Wroughtnaut and it will attack on sight. Attacks from the front will do no damage and you’ll have to find a weak spot in order to make it out alive.

Be wary when traversing the Savannahas well as you may come across a Barakoa village. It’s full of tribesman that hunt in packs and shoot poison darts. And they are very fast.

And be extra cautious if you get past the tribesman to the Sun Chief. He uses the power of the sun to call down strikes on enemies so be prepared for an attack and arm yourself accordingly.

Most of these enemies have rare and unique drops so there is at least some incentive to seek them out but approach with caution. This mod does require an additional API found here.

Minecraft 1.11   Requirements: Forge

Find the mobs does exactly as the name suggests, it finds mobs. You can set which mobs you want to find specifically and they will show up in a radar blip in the corner of your screen. This is a convenient way to track mobs and/or avoid the more dangerous ones.

The map shows in relation to yourself in the middle of the radar and is based on standard compass directions.

If you’re looking for a specific mob then this mod will easily point you in the direction of where to find them. It also has arrow indicators of where the mobs are in relation to whether they are above or below you.

You can also customize the size of the radar as well as the color of arrow indicators.

The Primitive Mobs Mod adds a ton of new mobs to the game significantly improving interaction with the NPCs. Amongst the mobs are several new villagers, enemies and pets.

mobs

The TravelingMerchant is like the other villagers, only he roams the world rather than in villages. Their trades are more random than standard Villagers. LostMiners are found in caves. He cries for help, which you can either provide it or leave him to die. If you take him to the surface he’ll gift you an emerald. Sheepmen and Sheepmen Smiths are only found in the Nether. They are essentially the bad villagers from the surface who died and are now in the afterlife. The Sheepmen trade for gold nuggets and Sheepmen Smiths will repair your tools and armor for gold.

villagers

There are a ton of new enemies but some of the most notable are the Haunted Tools, Mimics and Treasure Slimes. Each of these mobs have the ability to drop exceptional items but behave more erratically than traditional mobs making them more of a risk to attack.

enemies

There are new pets with this mod as well. Chameleons can change colors and can be tamed with melons. They also drop Camouflage dye that allows you to create Camouflage armor so you can change color too! Spider Babies will spawn from spider eggs and eat rotten meat. If you feed it 5 fermented spider eyes it will grow into a mountable Adult Spider that can climb walls for you!

This mod is really incredible for adding more dynamic mobs to the game. It definitely fills the world with more variety than the standard creepers, villagers, and zombies we’re all used to. There’s also plenty more to discover with this mod so check the forum for all the extensive information.

The Utility Mobs mod adds a ton of new useful mobs to aid in your everyday experiences. Golems, roving turrets and walking tool blocks are here to help the fight against your enemies.

stoneGolem

Golems are crafted similarly to the Snow Golem except they’re made of stone and ores and are much stronger. Iron and Gold golems are armored and have weapons. And the Bound Soul golem is made from soul sand and you can place whatever armor and weapons you want on it. As soon as they see enemies they will start to attack and their damage depends on the strength of the blocks they’re made from.

New turrets have been added with this mod. They can turn in 360 degrees to follow nearby enemies and attack on sight. Basic turrets are made from stone, bricks and obsidian and steadily increase in attack damage.

turrets

And then more advanced turrets can shoot flaming arrows like the fire turret made with a redstone block.

Lastly you can craft various blocks to follow you around on your travels. If you need a crafting table, furnace, anvil or chest you can add a skeleton skull to any of them and they become your tamed pets. They’ll follow you around and you can even tell them to sit or stand by shift + clicking them.

The Special Mobs Mod gives you a much broader variety with mobs in Minecraft. If you’ve grown tired of the traditional mobs and you’ve learned all the tricks to avoid or protect yourself from them, then this mod is for you. It not only changes mobs aesthetically but also gives them many new abilities. They also come in varying sizes that are completely random!

sizes

The Doom Creeper will explode even after it’s killed:

doom

The Jumping creeper that, well, jumps, can explode mid-air:

jumping

Fire Skeletons are immune to fire and will shoot flaming arrows at you. Obviously daytime burning will not affect them so best to lure them to water in a pinch:

fire

Thief skeletons will rob you each time you take a hit from them:

thief

And this one looks like a normal block but it’s actually a skeleton disguising itself and will attack when you are near:

disguised

Zombies are now more realistic and will actually infect villagers but if you see one with a fishing rod steer clear! They can reel you in if you get too close:

fishing

And enjoy a slew of new spiders from big to small to practically invisible:

spiders

Every mob in this game gets an overhaul so be sure to check it out and you’ll sure be surprised by what comes chasing you next!

The Infernal Mobs mod gives each enemy in the game special modifiers to make them more challenging to fight. Not all mobs that spawn will have the modifiers but there is a percentage that will throughout your journey. The benefit to fighting harder mobs is that they drop much more XP and even a random enchanted item. So if you’re looking for a new challenge in Minecraft then consider Infernal mobs.

1up

Each modified mob will display their name and type of modifier they have at the top of the screen. The 1UP modifier will cause a mob to heal back to full health when it gets low. This will only happen once during battle but it could put a damper in your fighting if you encounter multiple enemies at once. There’s also a Regen mob that will slowly regain its health as well and this will happen until you can kill it entirely. In a similar regard the Lifesteal mob will gain health with each attack it deals on you.

lifesteal

Ghastly mobs will shoot fireballs and Fiery mobs will set you on fire.

ghastly

fiery

The Ender and Ninja mobs are able to teleport their attacks at you or teleport away from you when you attack.

Teleport

And probably one of the worst are Cloaking mobs that have a constant invisibility potion effect on them. These can be very dangerous for the obvious reason that you won’t see them coming until they attack.

cloaking

This mod definitely amps up the enemies in the game and may give you pause when you encounter an enemy you can typically handle in any normal situation.

Medieval Mobs adds 3 new mobs to Minecraft that don a more medieval atmosphere. You now have to watch out for the Brigand, the Bandit, and the Tribesman, each with their own skills and weapons. The Brigand is the live version of what the skeleton would be were it not a walking skeleton. So he has a bow and arrow equipped.

brigand

The Bandit and Tribesman are similar to the zombie in mannerisms but they carry steel or stone/iron swords or axes respectively.

bandit

tribesman

The difference in these human form mobs is that while they retain characteristics of both the skeleton and zombie, they are indeed faster and more intelligent so fighting will be tougher. And to expound matters more, they can be out in the sun with no ill effects. So if you’re looking for human enemies that may fit into your medieval atmosphere a bit better, then this mob is perfect for you.
